General User Terms and Conditions:

AfroJewishConnect UK ("AfroJewishConnect", "we", "us", "our") and its customers ("you") acknowledge and agree to the following General Terms and Conditions of Use ("Terms and Conditions") governing the contractual relationship for the AfroJewishConnect Service, commencing on December 31, 2025. The AfroJewishConnect Service comprises both free and paid options accessible via mobile device, mobile application, or computer. Our Community Guidelines form an integral part of these Terms and Conditions. Contracts with third-party providers, such as Stripe or Google, may be subject to additional provisions. The Service is only available to individuals aged 18 and above, who may use the Service solely for personal, non-commercial purposes. By registering or using the AfroJewishConnect Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions and the Subscription Terms applicable to additional features, products, or services. Your profile will be visible to members in multiple countries, allowing you to search for partners globally. We will process your personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy, Clause 4.   • Object of your Subscription
    • Upon registration, AfroJewishConnect will grant you access to an online database, enabling you to connect with other registered members. The AfroJewishConnect Service is accessible via mobile apps on iOS and Android devices, or through the Internet, and comprises both complimentary and paid services.
    • AfroJewishConnect's online database contains member profiles with content and data contributed by the members. For more information on the types of personal information collected and shared among members, please consult our Privacy Policy (Clause 4). The countries served by AfroJewishConnect are listed on our website, allowing members to search for and connect with other members in these countries.
    • Please note that, although we hope our Service facilitates successful connections and meaningful relationships among AfroJewishConnect members, we cannot guarantee that utilising our Service will result in matrimony or any other long-term commitment. We do not operate as a wedding agency in relation to our Service.
  • Access of the Service and Conclusion of your Subscription:
    • Registration is necessary to access and utilize the AfroJewishConnect Service. To register, provide an email address and a password of your choice. Upon registration, AfroJewishConnect will automatically assign a unique “profile ID” (a pseudonym) and a “service password”, which will be emailed to you.
    • Upon completion of registration, you will qualify for our complimentary Service (“Basic Membership”).
    • AfroJewishConnect currently offers various premium services and features that require a fee. Before purchasing, we'll provide detailed information about the service, including its key features, subscription terms (including renewal details), how to cancel, and payment terms. When you choose to upgrade to a paid membership or purchase additional features, you'll be provided with all necessary details to confirm your purchase. By selecting a Premium Membership or other paid services and clicking the "Buy" button, you confirm your purchase. Our contract is finalized once we send you an order confirmation email. Note that your purchase is subject to verification and processing by our payment provider. In some countries, we also offer virtual goods, like Match Unlocks (as described in Clause 3), to enhance your membership experience. Here's a rewritten version:
    • You can also buy subscriptions through AfroJewishConnect’s iOS or Android app via Stripe or Google. AfroJewishConnect is responsible for providing the service, and we'll send you an order confirmation after your purchase. However, managing your purchase and subscription (including cancellations) is handled through Stripe or Google, and is subject to their terms and technical standards. When purchasing through an app store, the transaction is completed when you click "Buy now" (or similar) and verify with your password or biometric credentials (e.g., Touch ID or Face ID). Your contract with Stripe or Google is confirmed upon receiving their order confirmation email, and they'll charge your account for Premium Membership fees. All key details about your contract with Stripe or Google are available in the app store. If you purchase a Premium Membership with auto-renewal, it'll automatically extend unless you cancel through Stripe or Google according to their terms. Note that certain sections of our Terms and Conditions (Clauses 5.2, 5.3, and 11, excluding 11.4) don't apply to Premium Memberships purchased via Stripe or Google.
    • For terms specific to app store purchases, refer to Clauses 14 and 15 below. If there's a conflict between these Terms and Conditions and the app store's terms of service, the app store's terms (Stripe or Google) will take precedence.
  • Free-of-Charge and Chargeable Services
    • Signing up for AfroJewishConnect is free, and our Basic Membership comes at no cost. When you register, you'll take a scientifically-backed compatibility quiz designed with psychological criteria. We'll use your quiz answers and statistical data to create your unique personality profile, which is then matched with other members' profiles based on specific comparison data. This helps us determine compatibility between you and other members. As a member, you'll receive free partner recommendations in your profile and via email. You'll also get access to a suggestion list of potential matches, which includes condensed profiles with key details like compatibility scores, names, locations, and blurred photos. As a Basic member, most photos will appear blurred, though in some cases, you might see unblurred primary photos of recommended matches at our discretion. Clicking on a condensed match profile lets you view the full profile. As a Basic member, you can send unlimited predefined messages to other users, but your ability to send and receive personalized messages is limited. We reserve the right to limit predefined messages to protect our members and ensure service security, as outlined in these Terms.
    • With a Premium Membership, you'll get regular updates on potential matches directly in your profile and via email. Our system continuously adds new members to your match list. As a Premium member, you'll see unblurred photos, names, and locations of your matches, regardless of their membership level. As a Premium member, you can contact and exchange messages with other members who agree to communicate. We reserve the right to limit messaging to protect members and ensure service security. You'll also get access to your detailed personality profile from the compatibility quiz in your account settings. Basic members can purchase this profile separately. Virtual goods, like Match Unlocks, are available for purchase and can enhance your experience. For example, Match Unlocks let you see unblurred profile pictures and send unlimited messages. We reserve the right to set limits and conditions on virtual goods, and availability may vary by location. Match Unlocks might not be available in your area. Additional Terms for Match Unlocks: Using Match Unlocks is subject to Clause 7. Match Unlocks are tied to your Basic Membership account and can't be transferred to a Premium Membership or other users. They're non-refundable and can't be exchanged for cash. If you upgrade to Premium, unused Match Unlocks will be paused until your Premium membership ends and your account reverts to Basic. Match Unlocks expire after 4 years from purchase or 2 years of account inactivity, or if you request data deletion, whichever comes first. If you're already able to communicate freely with a match, using a Match Unlock will only grant you access to their additional posted photos.
    • Additional paid services are outlined in our "Membership / Prices and Services" section on the website.
    • We reserve the right to modify the Service to:
      • Comply with changes in laws and regulations
      • Make minor technical adjustments and improvements (e.g., security updates)
      • Change main service characteristics (with prior notice) If significant changes occur, we'll notify you, and you can cancel your subscription before the changes take effect. If you're a Premium member, you'll receive a refund for unused services.
  • Use (incl. for advertising purposes), Transfer and Transmission of Data
    • For details on how your personal information is used and our data protection obligations, you may refer to our policy on privacy.
    • We take your safety seriously and work hard to protect you from harassment, hacking, spam, and scams. To help, we've developed security measures and guidelines. It's your responsibility to read and follow our security tips and user guidelines. If our Trust and Safety Team reaches out due to suspicious activity, please cooperate and respond promptly. If we recommend actions, consider them seriously. You can also report problematic content or behavior using the "suspicious profile?" feature.
    • We may automatically delete unanswered messages sent to or from profiles identified as spam, romance scams, or deleted accounts.
  • Termination/Extension: To cancel your Premium Membership within the 14-day cooling-off period, see Section 11 for details.
    • You can cancel your Basic Membership instantly by going to "Data & Settings" > "Manage profile" > "Profile Status" and clicking the link to confirm with your password. Your account will otherwise remain active unless:
      • We terminate it according to our Terms
      • Your account is inactive for 24 months
      If you have active virtual goods (like Match Unlocks), please notify us in writing (e.g., via email) to terminate your account. admin@AfroJewishConnect.com with the email address or profile ID associated with your account and your service password. Note that deleting your Basic Membership will also delete any purchased virtual goods (like Match Unlocks), and existing payment obligations will remain unless you have cancellation rights (see Clause 11)."
    • To cancel your Premium Membership, either:
      • Log in and go to "Data & Settings" > "Manage profile" > "Amend subscription"
      • Contact us using the details in Clause 16
      Termination takes effect at the end of your subscription term, and refunds aren't usually given. To avoid auto-renewal, notify us before your current term ends. See Clause 5.3 for more info. After cancelling your Premium Membership, payment obligations remain. To authenticate your request, please include:
      • Your registered email address or profile ID
      • Your service password (not login password)
      You can find your profile ID and service password in "My Data & Settings" > "Manage Profile".
    • Your Premium Membership will auto-renew after the initial term and subsequent terms unless you cancel. Each renewal will be for the same term and price as your original subscription. You'll have the option to retake the compatibility quiz within two weeks of each renewal.
    • Cancelling Premium Membership downgrades to Basic. To cancel Basic, see Clause 5.1.
    • If you cancel Premium due to significant service changes, your subscription ends immediately, and we'll refund unused time. For Stripe or Google purchases, refunds follow their terms (see Clause 2.4).
    • For Premium Memberships purchased through Stripe or Google, Clauses 5.2 and 5.3 don't apply. See Clause 2.4 for details. You'll need to follow Stripe or Google's instructions to cancel. You'll still get to retake the AfroJewishConnect's compatibility quiz within two weeks of each auto-renewal.
  • Functionality, Compatibility, Interoperability, Warranties, and Liability
    • We strive to make AfroJewishConnect available 24/7, but can't guarantee 100% uptime. Service may be interrupted for maintenance, updates, or issues beyond our control.
    • Some features are exclusive to either the website or app. For example:
      • Website can't manage mobile push notifications.
      • Mobile app can't view/edit certain info (like password, profile status, or email settings) or access features like SMS verification.
      • Profile deletion is only available on the website and iOS app (not Android app).
    • For the best experience, use up-to-date technology (e.g., enable JavaScript, cookies) and a modern operating system. Older systems or settings might limit functionality.
    • We recommend installing product updates (including app updates) promptly. It's your responsibility to keep your app updated. If you don't install updates after being notified, we won't be liable for any resulting issues.
    • You're responsible for the accuracy of your registration and quiz information. AfroJewishConnect isn't liable for the accuracy of your quiz results, personality evaluations, or match suggestions. You can update most profile info anytime, but some changes require contacting us directly (we'll let you know when that's the case)."
    • AfroJewishConnect provides the technical platform for the Service, facilitating connections between members. However, we can't guarantee finding a partner.
    • Members are expected to use the Service respectfully and in line with these Terms. AfroJewishConnect isn't responsible for:
      • Misuse of personal info
      • Unauthorized or unlawful use
      • Data misuse by members, non-members, or third parties you've shared info with.
    • AfroJewishConnect strives for a high-quality service but can't guarantee perfect performance or uninterrupted access. We're not liable for disruptions beyond our control. While we implement security measures to protect your personal info, we can't be held liable for unauthorized access by third parties (e.g., hacking).
    • We exclude all implied representations, warranties, and conditions to the fullest extent permitted by law. We're not liable for unforeseeable losses or damages arising from these Terms or your use of the Service.
    • These exclusions are governed by English law. If any provision is deemed unlawful or unenforceable, it will be severed, and the remaining provisions will still apply.
    • We can't exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud. We also can't limit or exclude any other liability that can't be limited or excluded under applicable law.
  • Responsibility and Duties of the Customer
    • You must pay all charges on time according to your subscription terms. If you're paying in instalments and miss two or more payments, the entire outstanding balance becomes due immediately. We may suspend or terminate the Service if payment isn't made. We'll also take steps to recover outstanding fees, and you may be charged for:
      • Chargeback fees
      • Other reasonable fees imposed on us due to non-payment or late payment.
    • You're responsible for providing accurate information during registration, in your profile, and the compatibility quiz. By providing this information, you confirm it's truthful and accurate. Misrepresenting your identity can lead to legal liability.
    • By using the Service, you agree to:
      • Use it for personal, non-commercial purposes only
      • Not use member information for commercial or advertising purposes
      • Not use automated methods to access or download member data
      • Not use computer programs to crawl or scrape member data.
    • If you breach these Terms or the law, AfroJewishConnect may claim damages under English law.
    • You must keep confidential:
      • Emails and messages sent via the Service
      • Member information (e.g., names, contact details)
      You can only disclose this information with the sender's consent or for serious reasons.
    • If you've found a partner or no longer want to receive matches, please let us know immediately so we can remove you from our database. This helps us keep our matches accurate and useful for other members. Failing to update your status can negatively impact the quality of the Service for others.
    • You're responsible for regularly retrieving messages and important info from your profile. AfroJewishConnect may delete messages older than 12 months without notice. If you're a Basic member, your data will be deleted if your profile is inactive for 24 months.
    • You must follow the Community Guidelines and not misuse the Service. Prohibited uses include:
      • Sharing immoral, obscene, or illegal content
      • Threatening, harassing, or defaming others
      • Uploading viruses or copyrighted content without permission
      • Disrupting the Service for others
      • Intercepting or attempting to intercept emails/messages
      You can only use the messaging and video chat features to communicate with other members. Don't use the Service to:
      • Promote goods or services without permission
      • Send chain letters or commercial messages
      • Share unsolicited contact info unless it's explicitly requested.
    • If you don't meet our expectations, we might:
      • Hit you with a warning or ask you to knock it off
      • Delete any content that doesn't play by the rules
      • Temporarily shut down your access while we sort things out
      • In serious cases, terminate your account If we terminate due to misuse, you'll get a refund for the unused Premium time, but we might deduct costs incurred due to your non-compliance. For Stripe/Google purchases, refunds follow their terms (see Clause 2.4).
  • Communication
    • On our platform, communication must follow these Terms and Community Guidelines. We enforce mutuality, meaning:
      • If someone doesn't respond, further contact is blocked
      • This applies regardless of your profile settings.
    • We'll usually communicate with you online (e.g., email, in-app notifications) for things like matches, subscription updates, and invoices. If you need to contact us, use fax or post only for:
      • Subscription queries
      • Payment issues
      • Email security concerns
      Our service is online-only, so you'll need to sign up, use, and manage your account digitally. To verify your identity and protect your account, please include the following in any requests you send us:
      • Your registered email address or profile ID
      • Your service password
      You can find these in your profile under "My Data & Settings" > "Manage Profile"
  • Rights of Use and Copyright
    • By using our Service, you agree that AfroJewishConnect owns all rights to the Service, including:
      • Content
      • Materials
      • Trademarks
      • Commercial names
      You can only use these for purposes outlined in these Terms."
    • By joining, you grant us permission to use your information (including profile data) to provide the Service to you and others. This includes hosting, storing, copying, displaying, and modifying it as needed.
    • We can:
      • Refuse to post or remove any content at our discretion
      • Edit, condense, or delete content that violates our Terms or is objectionable.
    • We respect intellectual property and expect our members to do the same. If you believe someone's rights have been infringed, please let us know.
  • Governing Law
    • These Terms are governed by English Law.
  • Cancellation Policy, Exclusion of the Right to Cancel
    • You can cancel your contract within 14 days of receiving the purchase confirmation email, no questions asked. To cancel, contact us using the methods below:
      • By email: admin@afrojewishconnet.com
      • Via live chat (if available)
      Provide a clear statement of cancellation, including the information in Clause 11.3. A model cancellation form is available, but not required.
    • Cancellation Effects If you cancel within 14 days, we'll refund all payments:
      • Within 14 days of receiving your cancellation notice
      • Using the same payment method as the original transaction
      • Without any additional charges
      However, if you've used our services during the cancellation period, we may deduct a reasonable amount for the portion used.
    • When cancelling, please include:
      • Your registered email address or profile ID
      • Your service password
    • Note:
  • Your Legal Rights
    • A service that matches our description
    • A service that's fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality
    If your Premium Membership content is faulty, you're entitled to:
    • A repair or replacement
    • A full or partial refund if the fault can't be fixed
    You may also be entitled to a repair or compensation if the fault damages your device due to our negligence.
  • Miscellaneous
    • We may use third-party providers and agents, including our group entities, to deliver our Service.
    • If any part of these Terms is invalid or incomplete, it won't affect the rest.
    • These Terms are in English.
    • We won't store a copy of your Subscription Terms. It's your responsibility to save a copy when you sign up. You can access the Terms on our website, app, or via the confirmation email we send when you register for Premium Membership.
    • You can't assign or transfer your rights or obligations without our written consent. We can assign, transfer, or subcontract ours to any third party. If we engage a third party, we'll still be responsible for our obligations. Our subsidiaries and group companies are also beneficiaries of these Terms. You, AfroJewishConnect, our subsidiaries, and group companies can enforce these Terms under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999. No other person or entity has enforcement rights under this Act, except as stated in Clauses 14 and 15.
    • We can update these Terms at any time. The Terms that apply to you are:
      • For Premium members: the Terms in effect when we confirmed your order
      • For Basic members: the Terms in effect when you registered or became a Basic member again
  • Additional Terms which apply if you have downloaded our app from Apple’s App Store
    • These additional terms apply if you downloaded our app from Stripe's App Store.
    • The relationship and Terms are between you and AfroJewishConnect, not Stripe. Stripe is not responsible for our app or its content. AfroJewishConnect is solely responsible for:
      • App content
      • Maintenance and support
      • Product warranties
      If our app doesn't meet warranties, notify Stripe, and if you've made a purchase, follow their process. Stripe's only obligation is to refund the purchase price if our app doesn't meet warranties. Any other claims related to our app are our responsibility, not Stripe's. We'll handle:
      • Product liability claims
      • Non-compliance with laws and regulations
      • Other claims related to your use of the app
      We're responsible for handling claims related to:
      • Consumer protection
      • Privacy
      • Intellectual property infringement
      We'll investigate, defend, settle, or discharge any claims related to our app's infringement of third-party rights."
    • By downloading our app from Stripe's App Store, you confirm:
      • You're not located in a US-embargoed country or a country designated as "terrorist-supporting"
      • You're not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties
    • You must follow any third-party terms when using our app, like your wireless data service terms.
    • You must follow Stripe's App Store Usage Rules.
    • Our app is for use on Stripe-branded devices only.
    • Stripe and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms, and are entitled to rights pursuant to the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999. No consent is needed from Stripe, its subsidiaries, or other non-parties to:
      • Rescind, vary, or terminate these Terms
      • Assign or transfer rights or obligations
      • Grant waivers
  • Additional Terms which apply if you have downloaded our app from GooglePlay
    • These terms apply if you downloaded our app from Google Play.
    • The relationship and Terms are between you and AfroJewishConnect, not Google. AfroJewishConnect is solely responsible for our app, its content, and service. Google has no obligations or liability. Contact us, not Google, for:
      • App problems
      • Errors
      • Performance issues
    • If you downloaded our app from Google Play, you must follow Google's Android Market Terms of Service.
    • Google is a third-party beneficiary and can enforce these Terms under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999.
